So who is Tim Bishop you ask? Well, it’s a story as old as… me.
Right now I am playing around with ai, and working as a freelance Creative Director/creative after just finishing working for Dig Agency. At Dig, I played a major role in taking them from an unknown agency to consistently appearing on Campaigns Brief ‘s ‘Hot list’. I worked across multiple categories and channels making work on every budget.
Before this, I did a 6-month contract as an Art based Creative Director working on 711, i-Select, and Connoisseur Ice Cream for Leo Burnett, Melbourne.
Before that, I was at BMF in Sydney for over two years working as a Creative Director. I worked on national campaigns for the Australian Federal Government, Australian Beef with MLA, Bpay, Aldi, and James Squires Beer. I really enjoyed working with, and learning from, some of the best in the advertising business. It was fun to win a couple of Effies and be a part of an agency that won Effective Agency Of The Year.
Before BMF, I was at Clemenger Melbourne for close to four years. I worked on VB, Snickers, Bonds, Lazy Yak beer, TAC, NAB, and Origin Energy. I felt very privileged to work there at that time (even if it felt like the last bastion of the ‘old’ model) as it was full of smart people, cleaned up with lots of Agency Of The Year and creative awards, and was also fun (it’s fun to be successful).
Prior to Clem’s I spent 5 years at Saatchi & Saatchi in Amsterdam. I worked on T-Mobile, LOR coffee, Douwe Egberts, Fiat, Cordaid, and many others. My creative partner and I ran the creative department where we made everything from integrated campaigns, to apps, to stunts and almost everything in between. I won a few shiny things and even sold boxes of ‘nothing’ for a charity (Life Gifts - what’s nothing to you can mean everything to someone in need).
Prior to Saatchi’s I spent six years at Leo Burnett in Sydney. This was my introduction to the advertising world. I worked on brands such as Mcdonald’s, Bundaberg Rum, Colonial First State, Optus, and a few others. Leo’s Sydney won a few Agency of the Year awards and was a fun, interesting baptism of fire.
Before that, I completed Award school where I was selected as a ‘top student’ in what was called Super Group – fancy. Award school allowed me to get my proverbial foot in the door.
Before that, I worked in the hospitality industry in Sydney and was involved in a little art collective that did random shows around Sydney. God, I thought I was cool…embarrassing.
Before that, I was a gypsy traveling the world, mostly by myself, for about 3 years. I travelled through Europe, the Middle East, South East Asia, and North America where I was able to challenge myself, embrace my natural curiosity and develop a lifelong love of observing.
Before that, I was a boy in Sydney, contemplating whether to go pro in basketball, rugby, skateboarding, or surfing (Still contemplating which one I should go for).
Before that? Well, you’ll have to ask my mum.
One thing that has remained a ‘forever’ constant; I like doing interesting things with interesting people.
